The Mayang Tea Project was established in 1982 by SALCRA (Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority) with funds provided by Sarawak State Government, for the purpose of developing 188 Ha. of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land owned by 174 Bidayuh families of Kampong Mayang (Mayang Village) and Kampong Engkeroh (Engkeroh Village) in Serian District into a tea plantation.

The Mayang Tea Project under the management of the company, Mayang Tea Sdn. Bhd. ("MTSB") is engaged in growing, manufacturing and marketing of black tea. The 188 hectare plantation is fully-grown with tea, and a factory that is capable of manufacturing 400 metric tonnes (or 400,000 KG) of made-tea leaves per annum. We have been in production since 1985, producing annually at an average of 250-300 metric tonnes of made-tea.

Mayang Tea estate and factory is located 90 Km from Kuching City at Kampong Mayang and Engkeroh, along the Tebakang/Mongkos road in the Serian District of Sarawak.
